“I’m literally just a girl your honor” from the series Witches Primsang, 80x60, acrylic and oil on canvas :-) , sold

Did you know??? That in the 15th century, the concept and significance of the Sabbath became increasingly widespread and recognized due to its appearance in texts and books. It’s no coincidence that the origins of the witch myth and the rise of the printing press lay so closely together :-O…. The Malleus Maleficarum was a manual on how to recognize, capture, torture and execute witches. All based on what? Welllll, in the 1430’s there was a rise in ideas that the enemies of the church we’re teaming up to harm the Christian community. And their team leaders were demons!! Heinrich Kramer wrote down his delusions and wrote this great book. It sold almost 30,000 copies ( a true goldmine for publishers ) and has been compared to Hitler’s famous writings.
The return to more literal readings of the Bible ( sparked by the Reformation ) created an intolerant climate. A woman's duty is to have babies, raise them, do household chores and be submissive to their husband. And most of all; as the weak little creatures that we are, we’re more likely to be tempted by the devil’s words 👿😈😮💨 Knowledge is power, sharing it!!
